The Challenge

For more than 15 years, Portland Homeless Family Solutions had helped homeless families find and keep a home. They came to WPR searching for a new name and visual identity that would better represent their mission, be easier to remember, and would capture the impact of helping over 10,000 parents and children move from homelessness to housing.

The Goal & Strategy

What’s in a name? A lot, it turns out. Our team held over 10 listening sessions with board members, employees and donors, using these findings to create naming options that:

  • Were easy to say, and even easier to remember
  • Accurately represented the organization’s work
  • Inspired hope and positivity

The Results

WPR presented five possibilities and one winner: Path Home. We paired the name with a visual brand and a communications plan that, when timed with the nonprofit’s annual fundraising appeal event and thought-leadership campaign, helped amplify Path Home at a pivotal time for the growing organization.

The energy, pride, and passion our new name creates is evident in both the staff and our larger stakeholder community. Working with the WPR team has been a true joy, and we can honestly say they are one of the best partners that we have ever worked with.”
