One of the coolest recent PR stories out of Portland was the opening of The Society Hotel — a boutique hotel with a hostel component in the city’s Old Town/Chinatown district.
It’s not just a 135-year-old structure with a cast-iron front, but a living, iconic addition to the Portland visitor scene. It is also a beacon in the revival and revitalization of historic Old Town/Chinatown.
After a successful opening, the long-term goal is to establish the surrounding neighborhood as the festive epicenter of Chinatown, an effort that can serve as a national model to revitalize Chinatowns in other metro areas. Media tours at the hotel are available. Here’s the press kit we’ve developed.
